Buddha Year Explained

It's time.

I've been planning this journey for a long time. Ever since I was in India in 2012, I knew I had to go back East by the time I was 35, Buddha's Enlightenment year. Well, I missed it ( life never works out the way we plan🤪), I am 36 but ready for it finally to begin. I have spent the last two years teaching the most amazingly creative-refreshing students in the world, Englewood Stem Panthers.

Right now, I don't have much to say, only, everything feels sacred. My clock is running out. I have felt this feeling before like when the Chicago leaves turn red-yellow-orange-nature is saying- take nothing for granted: my family, friends, jobs, students, and life choices.

But something lies ahead. It can be found at the tip of my nose and the top of my mouth. A journey inward and outward. A walk to pay respects to the great ones who have kept the beautiful teaching of the Buddha and preserved them for all to enjoy and practice upon.

For now, it's just a hot day in Chicago. People walking Lake Shore Path, kids playing soccer, families barbecuing, people wearing short-shorts, and music blasting in someone's ears as they bob along happily to the song; while I savor every moment and breathe.
